Heritage Baptist Church began as a dream in the hearts of a band of dedicated Christian’s to whom God gave a vision for the planting of an independent, fundamental Baptist church that would make an impact on the people of the San Francisco Bay Area, with an emphasis, but not an exclusivity, on people of Chinese ethnicity. Through the leading of God, Pastor David Homer, a missionary from Hong Kong, accepted the calling of helping to start this church, and in serving as its senior pastor.

On January 21, 1999, Heritage Baptist Church celebrated its grand opening in Oakland, CA in the Oakland Asian Cultural Center. 

Since that time, the church has been blessed of God in acquiring its present facilities in San Leandro. With a centralized location, over 20,000 square feet of building space, and three acres of property, the church is ably prepared for ministering effectively in the Bay Area.

In July of 2004, Pastor Homer through the leading of the Lord, returned to Taiwan as a missionary and church planter. After an interim transition and review process, the church on November 7, 2004 called Alan Fong to lead as its senior pastor.

Today, under Pastor Fong’s leadership the church continues to move forward with great excitement, coupled with vibrant, expanding ministries for each life stage. We invite you to be part of a vision that is making a difference locally, nationally, and globally – Heritage Baptist Church.
